Jackie’s Healthy Habit No. 2️⃣ is “Drink More Water!” I know it sounds simple and elementary but drinking enough water everyday will change your life. It increases energy, flushes toxins, brightens skin, decreases chances of diabetes and heart disease and contributes to weight loss. So many people are walking around dehydrated. I find that if I let myself get dehydrated then I turn to food when I am thirsty when what I really need to do is drink some water. Do you know what that means? You are taking in excess calories to quench your thirst and basically thwarting your efforts to lose weight!
I shoot for ½ gallon to 1 gallon of water per day. You are probably saying to yourself, how do you make time to drink so much water? Okay, here’s the schedule. It’s actually not that hard once you get into a rhythm.
Drink 12 oz of Water as follows:
- Upon Waking (keep bottle next to your bed)
- With Breakfast
- After breakfast
- Before lunch
- With Lunch
- After lunch
- With afternoon snack or sometime between lunch and dinner
- Right before dinner
- With dinner
- After dinner
Boom…you have just consumed 120 oz of water today!!!!
Some of you (like the #hubbs) don’t like water. Brighten up your water with natural flavor enhancers such as lemon, oranges, cucumbers or fresh fruit. Throw in an herb like dill, mint or parsley. Whatever you do, don’t add artificial sweetener or other processed sweeteners. Also, any non-caffeinated and unsweetened beverage, such as tea, counts.
As always, thank you for stopping by Jackie Unfiltered. I read something on @VeggiePeggie Instagram today: “True wellness is a lifestyle that involves adding one positive habit at a time until it crowds out the bad habits and pushes it off the table!” So cheers to adding 1 positive habit per week this year!
Xoxo,
Jackie
